Determining the "This American Life" episode to verify it

[edit]

This wiki only contains the same vague information about the inspiration of the movie's script that can largely be found elsewhere. To more definitively validate the claim, there should be details beyond it being an episode of "This American Life" on Chicago Public Radio: an episode number, title, and date(s) of airing.

After a cursory review, the closest I've been able to come to more details was, "Believe it or not it was inspired by a true story – sort of. The idea came from an episode of NPR’s This American Life about a woman who gets a mansion for almost nothing by only agreeing to let the seller live there until he dies. In real life the man lived another 15 years and they became close like family after she even got married and had kids." ‘American Dreamer’ Review: Peter Dinklage And Shirley MacLaine At Their Best In This Very Black Human Comedy

As a follow-on, a new section may be of interest to others that highlights the major similarities and differences between the two stories. Baroness Samedi (talk) 21:53, 1 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
